Huiles essentielles ou huiles parfumées?

Essential Oils Or Fragrance Oils?

When I began creating my candles, I wanted them to embody the same philosophy that guides my soaps: uncompromising quality, thoughtful simplicity, and deep respect for both personal well-being and the environment.

I chose a blend of soy and coconut wax for its clean, elegant burn. Unlike traditional paraffin, this plant-based combination offers a smoother melt pool, refined scent diffusion, and an extended burn time — all derived from renewable sources.

Essential oils are often associated with purity and natural living. However, their behavior in a burning candle is very different from their use in cold diffusion or skincare. When a candle is lit, both wax and fragrance are exposed to sustained heat. Certain essential oils do not perform well under these conditions: their aromatic profile may shift, become sharp or unstable, and in some cases may create respiratory discomfort.

Both essential oils and fragrance oils offer distinct advantages. Essential oils provide authentic botanical depth and a more subtle, nuanced ambiance. Yet not all are suitable for combustion. Some lack stability at higher temperatures, while others offer a softer scent throw.

IFRA-certified fragrance oils, when formulated without phthalates or parabens, are designed specifically for safety and performance. They deliver consistency, depth, and longevity, while meeting rigorous international standards. For some, their limitation lies in not being entirely natural. For me, the decision is never ideological — it is intentional. I choose what performs beautifully and safely.

My candles scented with essential oils offer a delicate, refined atmosphere:

Rose & Jasmine
Lavender & Geranium
Peppermint & Vanilla

Those crafted with fragrance oils provide a fuller, more enveloping scent experience:

Lavender & Eucalyptus
Clementine & Cinnamon
Sandalwood & Jasmine

Each fragrance is selected with care — not only for how it smells, but for how it lives in your space. A candle should elevate your environment, never compromise it.
